Methodology is the core course of the TESOL program. It begins with a three-week introduction to second language acquisition theory to help participants better understand the rationale for Communicative Language Teaching. It then exposes participants to a rich variety of communicative principles, ideas and techniques for use in their own classes. Attention is paid to the teaching of skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and also to topics, such as classroom management and the ways in which culture can by introduced into the classroom. As in all components of the program, participants are strongly encouraged to contribute ideas and to reflect upon those of others. The experience all bring to the classroom as teacher and/or language learner provides a sound basis for doing so.

Yang Younghwa, S-G TESOLer :
This course contains both theoretical and practical aspects of English teaching. I learned really helpful and important methodology and had frequent opportunity to practice that. There was a lot of group work and, with the professor's help and encouragement, we were able to absorb even difficult methodology. This course will be so helpful if you want to be a real English teacher.
Min Hyesun, S-G TESOLer :
Before joining this course, I focused more on practical value, thinking that theoretical considerations were less important. This turned out to be a misconception. During the course, I had a chance to learn various theories of how languages are learned, which helped me to better understand how to teach a second language effectively.
I've been encouraged to consider the merits of different teaching methodologies and activities throughout the entire course, having been introduced to them by the professor. It's really helpful to someone like me who is just starting my career.
This course is designed to give students the skills and experience necessary to select and incorporate appropriate materials for their classrooms. Kim Doyeon (Philip), S-G TESOLer, SKKU TESOL Graduate Schooler :
I remember that I had a really good time with the teacher in this course. We could have a good experience while searching a lot of useful websites for the effective studying and teaching. Professors were always well prepared for every single lecture and I bet you would be able to get a lot of wonderful information through the this study.
Yi Jason, S-G TESOLer :
After taking this class, I realized that there were plenty of materials that can be helpful for teaching English. Although there are specific materials such as videos, cassettes, textbooks, I learned that anything could be a good material for teaching English. And most of all, I came to know that a good teacher should know how to use all those materials effectively in his or her classes.
The Practicum course provides hands-on teaching experience for teacher trainees. Experienced and new teachers alike are encouraged in the development of their personal teaching style and capabilities.
Participants have the opportunity to try out the modern teaching methodologies which they are studying and develop their abilities to plan and conduct lessons by way of observation of other teachers as well as by way of thorough feedback on their own teaching performance. With its series of carefully graded activities, the Practicum course gently guides program participants to competence in increasingly complex teaching situations.

Seo Yun-Jeong, S-G TESOLer, SKKU TESOL Graduate Schooler :
The moment when the first lesson began is quite unforgettable to me. I was like an elementary school student waiting in a line for an injection with some anxiety and curiosity. Other students in class introduced themselves very fluently, which made me more anxious about the course. However the moment when the final presentation was over with success is more memorable. I was not a shy person any more and could have much confidence to be a professional English teacher, which was my goal. Preparing for every presentation in groups was a hard work. But I realized that the interaction with other students was another factor for me to be more confident in being in front of others as well as leading students while giving a presentation. Practice makes everything perfect. And the program of this TESOL certificate course showed me the way to be a perfect and professional English teacher.
Now I¡¯ll never forget what I did in this program and won??t stop studying for a better teaching.
Woo Seung-hyun, S-G TESOLer, English teacher :
During this class, I had the opportunity to see how a lesson can be delivered differently up to the person. I really learned a lot how to apply the knowledge of theory and methodology into teaching. Lots of activities I had gained in this class helped me teach kids in the institute. This class was informative and effective. It was a precious time to get the feedback from the professor and the classmates and to learn their nice manner.

This is achieved through a balanced curriculum that engages students in a variety of exercises, activities, tasks and projects. The ECC is a course in progress that is constantly evolving and adapting to the ever-changing needs of the aspiring English language teacher.
